1. Decoding the Divine

Verse 1
Fishing in murky water as the tide makes it’s journey home
Salt encrusted on his lips from waves with lives of their own
The seagulls slice a silent path to the tune of whistling winds
The jagged shape of distant landfall; a homeland dark as sin

Verse 2
Writing songs in ballpoint pen on paper without lines
To those who sit engulfed in darkness; hoping staged lights shine
His pen feels mightier painting deeper things
You can read between the lines as this man starts to sing

Chorus
So he keeps on searching the turbulent sea
Finding treasure in the darkness
Hope, our souls to keep
And he keeps composing
His spiritual rhyme
Casting light into the shadows
Decoding the divine

Verse 3
From the murky depths as the tide’s pulled by the moon
A prized catch of rare beauty is lifted from the gloom
The blades cut deep as he rows toward landfall
Upon his catch we will feed; his homeland’s soul does call

Chorus

2. At Your Door

Verse
You give more when there's less
Give me hope in hopelessness
You bring sunshine when it's grey
You're that moment in my day

Chorus
And this I know; I know for sure
My soul lies at your door
And this I'll be; I'll be for sure
Waiting patiently
My soul belongs to you

Verse
You're the start and the end
You're my perfect long lost friend
You're bring comfort in my pain
You bring logic to my brain

Chorus

Bridge
I lay to rest outside your door
Knowing you're the one I'm waiting for
Always faithful; always true
I exist because of you

Chorus

3. A Thousand CAndles

Verse
She said things that showed a trust
Had peace that eased passed pain
A smile for the darkest torment
Deeds of kindness as angels came
She laughed out loud at snake like fears
That bit the heals of us mere mortals
A beauty from secret wellspring
Grieve, the heart that chanced to drink

Chorus
We lit a thousand candles
We said a thousand prayers
But the answer remains silent
Oh why?
Why’s she gone home?

4. Days Like This

Verse
It’s days like this the rain seeps in
It’s days like this; wind cold at every turn
It’s days like this a child's lost
It’s days like this; love distant, sorrow near

Chorus
Where’s truth and where’s justice now
Where’s truth and where’s justice now
Right hand withered; dove flown away
Where’s truth and where’s justice now

Verse
It’s days like this when wrong is right
It’s days like this what’s precious turns to dust

Chorus

Tag
It’s days like this the rain pelts in

5. Absent Father

Verse
I feel like the son of an absent father
Despondently waiting at the window pane
The letters and gifts don’t mean much no more
Delivered by strangers unseen

Verse
I feel like the son of an absent father
Cries himself to sleep in his head
Sits alone at the family table
They get by with the morsels they’re fed

Chorus
Father come home
Father come home

Verse
I feel like the son of an absent father
It’s been months; his work keeps him away
But in my mind he should be home
Is that to much to ask

Chorus

Verse
I feel like the son of an absent father
The family says, "Just let it be"
They could be right, after all it seems
That’s the way it’s meant to be

Chorus

6. Don't Tell Me

Verse
Don’t tell me the God of love and peace is right beside me
Don’t tell me the saviour took my suffering as his
Don’t tell me the testing of my faith will make it strong
Don’t tell me I’ll understand the truth of things unseen

Chorus
Just take me in your arms and hold me
Don’t speak to me with words I cannot hear
Just take me in your arms and hold me
Until my night is through

Verse
Don’t tell me you understand the heartache that’s within me
Don’t tell me you’ve been along this road that I must walk
Don’t tell me I’ve got to hold to everything that’s true
Don’t tell me; your 'helpful' words just seem to make it worse

Chorus

7. The Answer Will Come

Verse
You told me, Just start writing; The answer will come
Put pen to paper; The answer will come
Fingers on the fretboard; The answer will come
Melodic free falling; The answer will come

Verse
Your grief is understandable; The answer will come
Strum the chordal pathway; The answer will come
The sacred; it's morphing; The answer will come
The magic’s in the artistry; The answer will come

Chorus
It's in pursuit of purpose; In the doing of the deed
That from the Great Unknowing the answer seems to bleed
My divine sits contented in the finiteness of time
Great Spirit fitting snuggly in the comfort of my mind

Verse
Dealing to their judgement; The answer will come
Resistance to conforming; The answer will come
And what of not belonging; The answer will come
"Write for those who're searching”; The answer will come

Chorus
It's in pursuit of purpose; In the doing of the deed
That from the Great Unknowing the answer seems to bleed
My divine sits contented in the finiteness of time
Great Spirit fitting snuggly in the comfort of my mind
My fear is where the pen will lead; The composition's end
The turbulence unsettling, though my ship has sighted land
And what if I should hear it wrong; the deft insidious lie
And write a song destroying the last drop of hope inside

Verse
You told me, "Just start writing”; The answer will come
Just put your pen to paper; The answer will come
So here we are at daybreak; The answer has come
I'll sing the song on repeat for you, my son.

Chorus

8. A Season of Rest

Verse
She came to me in winter; beside the frozen river
A woman of enchantment; left a trail of melted snow
She asked me what I wanted; as if it really mattered
And though I’d just met her I felt she should've known
She ought to know

Chorus
A season of rest melts away the snow
A season of rest and the river flows

Verse
I told her how I’d watched as river trees had withered
The evidence of summer had up and flown away
And with the fleeing summer the fields of hope had followed
My calloused hands were pulsing with tired rhythms of my heart
Of my heart

Chorus

Bridge
She put her head upon my shoulder
Although I knew she was a queen
And whispered not to try and reason
“Rest for the season”
“Just rest for the season”

Verse
She left me by the river; Her fragrance lingering on
An aspect of Tradition that I’d never felt before
And as I sat in silence, beside the frozen river
The truth of what she said to me began to melt the snow
To melt the snow

Chorus

9. JOrdan

Verse
Waiting on the shore; my back turned to the past
The comfort of what’s known pulling at my sleeve
The roads I chose to walk were paths that I had made
Now all this man can say is “I’ve got to go”

Chorus
What more can I say
Now I’ve turned and walked away
Leaving it behind I feel alone
The road that lies ahead no other man can tread
But in my heart I know I can start anew

Verse
Through lands of discontent and kingdoms of mistrust
I’ve stumbled on in hope of finding peace
So here I stand alone; A step of faith to choose
So all this man can say is “I’ve got to go”

Chorus
What more can I say
Now I’ve turned and walked away
Stepping from the shore; a parting of the sea
What more can I pray
There's nothing more to say

Leaving it behind, I’m heading home
The road that lies ahead no other man can tread
And of this thing I’m sure; I will start anew

10. INSIGHT

Verse
Silver foil from mirror falling
Forty watts of fragrant mist
Squeaks the hand: the face of morning
Glimpses of a youthful wish
Turned away and soon forgotten
Distracted by the day’s embrace
Memory drained like cold soap water
Slips away without a trace

Chorus
If I’d only remained sober
Acted on the truth I’d heard
Maybe I’d have not forgotten
Insights from my broken world

Verse
Conscious of the spoken word
He places them with care
She attuned to harsher matters
Tainted love is all she hears
Soul words cast in fields of meekness
Harvested if she would dare
Turned away and soon forgotten
Cognisance consumed by fear

Chorus

11. Room With A View

Verse
Crouched in the corner of someone’s curse
Bound by the tongue of a thoughtless judge
Shivering naked in the draft of a laugh
I caught sight of a 'real' world

Verse
Hopelessly drunk in the freedom of speech
Freed by the stealth of a saviours death
Cloaked in a smugness that ends in a fall
I caught sight of a 'real' world

Chorus
A faith in my bones
A song in the blood
A love in my heart
A hope in my words
His wind in my sail
His load on my back
Oh with these
I am all

Verse
Beautifully poised in a room with a view
Cloaked in the robes of the Master’s love
From where I sit at a table prepared
I catch sight of the real world

Chorus
